UPI Users accross India facing problems in Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions, with payment failures reported on Google Play, Phone Pay, Paytm and other banking apps. As per the reports by Downdetector, the outages happened in the evening time, causing failures in fund transfer, transactions and ecen login access.


Affected services:

Users of Google Pay most frequently reported problems with payments (72%), website access (14%), and app-related issues (14%). Paytm likewise experienced difficulties; 86% of complaints were about payments, whilst 9% and 6%, respectively, were for login and purchase features.


The State Bank of India (SBI) experienced issues with fund transfers (47%), mobile banking (37%), and internet banking (16%) as a result of the outage, which also affected financial services. 84% of the complaints against UPI were related to unsuccessful payments, which hurt the company as a whole.

Downdetector graphs indicate a substantial increase in complaints about 7 PM, suggesting that the problems began in the late afternoon.




Social media users also complained about delayed fund transfers and unsuccessful transactions. Regarding the reason for the interruption, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which oversees UPI, has not yet released a statement.


Reason behind the UPI Payment Failure

As previously stated, UPI has not yet released an official statement explaining the cause of the nationwide outage of UPI services. But when Moneycontrol attempted to make the payment, the funds were first taken out of the account. The message "UPI down in India: Users facing issues with payments via GPay, Paytm and other UPI apps" was displayed when the money was credited back to the account.


Conclusion

What "technical problems" led to the outage is unknown at this time.
